Michelle has been making dryer balls to use up some fiber that wasn't really good for anything else

Michelle finished skirting the alpaca and llama fleeces so they're ready to go the mill.  She kept some locks to use for felting

Michelle also skirted a moorit (brown) Icelandic fleece. This particular fleece was chosen for the beautiful curls it had. She kept all the nice locks for needle felting and will spin the rest. It's so soft!

To make finding the right needle easier, Michelle color coded her felting needles with nail polish.

Cuff down socks for Erica Ann Budd's Essential Sock Knitting
When knitting Portuguese/Peruvian style in the round, the public side (or right side) appears on the inside of the knitting (see below), allowing you to purl in the round. Purling is the easier stitch in this style of knitting.

Michelle started two new Waffa birds. The plan for these is more simple than the last.

Episode 8: Spinningh Progress and So Much More!

Michelle's FOs Icelandic fleece from a black, gray, unspotted ram named Louie. It is 2 ply and bulky weight. Two finished needle felted pictures. The first is two gnome scenes from a tutorial by Living Felt. And the zentangle dragon I mentioned in the show.  Random fibers for felting before carding: and after: In their lumpy, bumpy form, they aren't as easy to wrap into bases as batts or roving. Here are a couple gnome bases ready to be covered after wrapping a chenille stem from the batt. It might be fun to leave some multicolored.  Erica's WIP Erica is trying a new procedure for spinning. Rather than spinning singles and plying right away, she is spinning up singles until she hits a low energy point or runs out of bobbins. Here is a slew of some singles she has spun up, most of these singles are from her advent calendar.  The advent calendar has been quite fun and came at a good time in this experiment. Since there are ...

Episode 9: Holiday Speed

Finished Objects Erica has a mostly finished and a totally finished object she shares on this episode. Erica plied one of the advent calendar yarns over the holiday break. While travelling in Helsinki, Erica twisted the fringe on her handspun scarf and wet finished it when she returned home. This scarf contains many of her color management study. Michelle finished separating and carding a Jacob fleece. She didn't think it would be that difficult to separate, but it turns out that the divide between the white and brown isn't distinct. She ended up with three colors, but for now is planning to spin the brown and white separately and then ply them to get a barber pole yarn. Works in Progress Erica is has made fairly good progress on both socks. Though the socks for TJ had one heel that ended up with twice as many stitches as the other. She is going to try doubling the decreases on the bigger heel and see how that goes. These socks are being knit from Gynx ...
