FO's

Erica has finished the loooonnnngggg linen band!!! Yeah, on to mangling it (soaking it in hot soapy water then abusing it)!

Michelle has been playing with macrame this month. She made 4 plant hangers to help with her growing plant collection. Three look like this one.

This was the first one she made. There was enough string left over so she decided to make this one a double hanger.

Michelle finished the test knit she was working on. It still needs to be blocked, but it will be a beautiful shawl (as long as her mistakes aren't too obvious).

WIP

Erica is still working on the Dueling Fingerless Mitts. The mitts are coming along nicely!

Erica is putting another handspun warp on her Glimakra Ideal loom for Oli. He picked these yarns out of the handspun stash for Yule a few years ago!

Erica is also looking to upgrade some equipment in her studio, more on that in future episodes!

Episode 8: Spinningh Progress and So Much More!

Michelle's FOs Icelandic fleece from a black, gray, unspotted ram named Louie. It is 2 ply and bulky weight. Two finished needle felted pictures. The first is two gnome scenes from a tutorial by Living Felt. And the zentangle dragon I mentioned in the show.  Random fibers for felting before carding: and after: In their lumpy, bumpy form, they aren't as easy to wrap into bases as batts or roving. Here are a couple gnome bases ready to be covered after wrapping a chenille stem from the batt. It might be fun to leave some multicolored.  Erica's WIP Erica is trying a new procedure for spinning. Rather than spinning singles and plying right away, she is spinning up singles until she hits a low energy point or runs out of bobbins. Here is a slew of some singles she has spun up, most of these singles are from her advent calendar.  The advent calendar has been quite fun and came at a good time in this experiment. Since there are ...

Episode 3: Socks of Life

Erica's Projects Erica finished up a big spinning study. She started a spinning color study in December. This study used all the color management techniques she has learned in Felicia Lo's BluPrint class and Sara Lamb's Spin to Weave book and video. She talks more about this process in this post on Weavolution . Erica has wound all 1,400 threads for her next Drawloom warp. She looks forward to studying drawloom weaving with JoAnne Hall this summer! Erica has sampled weft possibilities for her handspun scarf. She is weaving along with the middle weft, which is a medium grey. She feels this allows the focus to be on the beautiful handspun war. Michelle finished needle felting the sorting hat. She's pleased with how it turned out. She'd have liked to make the hat have more folds around the back of the hat but is afraid of messing it up. Michelle experimented with needle felting and wet felting a bowl. She needle felted over a hat form and a...
