Erica has finished one object! This handpun yarn. It was a great project and she is glad to have one FO.

Michelle continues to knit on the test knit she volunteered to do.



Michelle tried making rolags with her blending board. 

This is a Shetland fleece she obtained a while back. She planned to blend it with a darker Merino also from a while back.


She opened the locks a bit then ran them though the wool picker her dad made for her. This opened the locks further.


She loaded her blending board with some of the lighter Shetland and darker Merino and started rolling it off into rolags.

Erica has started spinning another one-of-a-kind, Once in a Lifetime colourway from Fiber Optic Yarns! It is beautiful! 

The Dueling Club Fingerless Mitt for TJ is coming along nicely!
Here is the cloth Erica's student is weaving. :)
Erica's handspun study warp #2 will be used as photographed below, a 3/1 twill, which really emphasizes the handspun yarn over the structure of anything else.

Michelle has been playing with macrame this month. She made 4 plant hangers to help with her growing plant collection. Three look like this one. This was the first one she made. There was enough string left over so she decided to make this one a double hanger. Michelle finished the test knit she was working on. It still needs to be blocked, but it will be a beautiful shawl (as long as her mistakes aren't too obvious). WIP Erica is still working on the Dueling Fingerless Mitts. Episode 8: Spinningh Progress and So Much More!

Michelle's FOs Icelandic fleece from a black, gray, unspotted ram named Louie. It is 2 ply and bulky weight. Two finished needle felted pictures. The first is two gnome scenes from a tutorial by Living Felt. And the zentangle dragon I mentioned in the show.  Random fibers for felting before carding: and after: In their lumpy, bumpy form, they aren't as easy to wrap into bases as batts or roving. Here are a couple gnome bases ready to be covered after wrapping a chenille stem from the batt. It might be fun to leave some multicolored.  Erica's WIP Erica is trying a new procedure for spinning. Rather than spinning singles and plying right away, she is spinning up singles until she hits a low energy point or runs out of bobbins. Episode 5: Spinning, Travels, and Drawloom Set Up

This has been quite a couple months for Erica and Michelle. They both did some traveling and spent time with their kids who were home from school, but also managed to get in some fiber time. Michelle spent a week in northern Michigan where she did some spinning by the lake. Going back home was difficult. Finished Objects: Erica managed to finish a number of projects this summer. Erica wove a Handspun scarf! It is very Whovian! Erica also finished her Colour Study knitting samples! This is the second step in the overall study.  The next step will be to weave a gamp/sample blanket with all these yarns.This has been a really interesting study so far. Although Erica still has a hard time deciding which technique she likes best or might use in future for spinning multi-colored tops. it is good to know that each technique produces great results. Erica does not feel like she encountered any muddying of colors. Erica thinks this is due to the use of analagous dyed color ways.
